Welcome to the instructions page! If you are an experienced Web surfer, then feel free to return to the main page and use the active image map. If not, please stay for a while and take advantage of the following lessons. You will develop a sense of comfort and find that Web browsing really isn't all that difficult by completing them.
By adjusting one of your screen settings, you will be able to view more information on a Web page. This screen setting function is referred to as resolution. Most pages today are designed to be viewed under the 800 x 600 setting. You can change the resolution on your computer by doing the following:

A Web site is a group of pages that are linked together and are usually connected to a main page called a home page. When you first access this site, you find yourself viewing a page that resembles a book--preface, chapters, binding and all. You are then on the "Romano's English Page" home page. You are now on a "child page" titled Instructions. This is connected to the home page. When you use your mouse to select the links on the burgundy column to the left, you jump from page to page. The graphic below represents part of the Romano's English Page Web Site. You are on the lavender page.

Hyperlinks
You can jump from page to page by using hyperlinks. Hyperlinks are represented by either graphics or text. If a hyperlink appears in the form of a graphic, the cursor turns form an arrow to a hand pointing to the top of the screen. If you single left-click on that graphic, you will jump to another page. If a hyperlink appears in the text form, you can simply single left-click on the text which is usually blue and underlined. On this site you will find that most of the text hyperlinks are orange and underlined.
This site uses both types of hyperlinks. The white text
links that you see on the burgundy left hand column are actually graphics. They
appear in text form, but they were created in a graphics program. You will find that
you can not highlight them by clicking and dragging you mouse over them like you can
normal text. The orange up arrows
that you see below each section are also
graphic hyperlinks. They take you to the top of the current page, rather than to a
new page.
The link that you selected to get to this section of the Instructions Page is a text hyperlink. If you hold down your left mouse button and pass it over the underlined text, you will notice that you can actually highlight it.
To get back to the top of this page, select the burgundy triangle at the end of this section.
Scroll Bars
Scroll bars appear on a Web page only when needed. In other words, if you see a scroll bar to the right of a page or within a section on a page, you can be sure that you will find more information. You can scroll horizontally or vertically.
There are a few ways to scroll. You can click on the arrows above and below the scroll bar. This will take you from top to bottom or from left to right rather slowly. You can also select the same arrows and hold down the left mouse button. This will allow you to scroll a bit faster. The fastest way to scroll is to click and drag the rectangle on the scroll bar from top to bottom.
