To show or hide the toolbar in My Computer or Windows Explorer
On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click the toolbar you want to display or hide.
Note
When the command has a check mark
next to it, the toolbar is displayed.
To turn on the Active Desktop interface
Notes
If you chose Web style for your desktop, the Active Desktop is already turned on.
You can also turn the Active Desktop interface on or off by clicking the Start button, pointing to Settings, pointing to Active Desktop, and then clicking View as Web Page.
To
create a folder

If you want to create a new folder within a folder, click the folder and
then follow steps two and three above.
To
move files by dragging instead of using menus
Notes
If you right-click to drag, a menu appears with the available options.
If you drag a file or a folder to a location on the same disk, it will be moved. If you drag it to another disk, it will be copied.
You can create a copy of a file and move it at the same time by pressing CTRL while you drag the file to a new location.
To quickly send files and folders to another place
Note
You can add other destinations to Send To. In the Send To folder, which is located in your Windows folder, create shortcuts to the destinations you send files to often, such as a printer, fax machine, or particular folder.
To delete a file or folder

You can also drag file or folder icons into the Recycle Bin. If you press SHIFT while dragging, the item will be deleted from your computer without being stored in the Recycle Bin.
To select a folder in the left pane of Windows Explorer, click the folder.
To change the name of a file or folder

A file name can contain up to 255 characters, including spaces. It cannot contain the following characters: \ / : * ? " < > |

To select multiple files and folders
In the folder window, hold down the CTRL key, and then click each item you want:
To determine how much space is available on a disk
A pie chart shows how much free and used space is on the disk.

When you select a disk in Windows Explorer, the status bar at the bottom of the window shows the same information.
